Aurora Martin – anti-discrimination and gender expert. She is Senior Advisor in International Relations within the Romanian Government and Parliament (on behalf of National Agency for Equal Opportunities, Minister of Labour, Family, Social Protection and Elderly Person, and National Council for Combating Discrimination).
She also serves as academic lecturer in Good Governance, Non-Discrimination, Cultural Violence and Conflict Transformation at: Wilmington College, Ohio, USA, Russian Presidential Academy for National Economy and Public Administration, Saint Petersburg, University of Belgrade, University of Rome-RomaTre, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Khazar University, Baku, University of Bucharest and lastly her Alma Mater – European Center for Security Studies at George C. Marshall (Germany). Her work at George C. Marshall is a culmination to her career as a student where she produced groundbreaking research on the shifting post-cold war standards of UN nation states on addressing security, R2P, conflict management and its implications for civil society.
Her PhD thesis brings a fresh view on the role of women within Romanian society, in the framework of international relations and politics. She was most recently awarded the Woman of the Year 2015 in Romania for defending and promoting women’s rights.
As a founding member of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership for Sustainable Development, member of World Association of NGOs (WANGO), she has addressed a diverse audience on Conflict Resolution, Human Security, Human Trafficking, Violence and Equal Opportunities.
She is Editor (in Chief) for several political science and human rights magazines and founded two magazines: RES Publica, focusing on equal opportunities and gender issues and ProDiversitate, on human rights and human security.
Recently she became an US State Department Alumna in Sustaining Civic Participation in Minority Communities and experienced in training civil service representatives.
